Midsummer’s Eve Dinner Meeting
Celebrating a Century in Balboa Park

Date and Time: Wednesday, June 21, 2023
5:00–7:30 p.m.
Place: Casa del Prado Patio and Room 101

This celebratory dinner meeting marks two milestones in SDFA history: 100 years in Balboa Park and 50 years in Casa del Prado. In 1923, under the sponsorship of the San Diego City Parks department, San Diego Floral Association opened its Balboa Park office and library in the Kansas State Building, first constructed for the 1915 Exposition. The Floral Association relocated to the Casa del Prado when it was opened as a garden center in the early 1970s.

The dinner menu is Hawaiian themed and includes a vegetarian option. To encourage everyone to join in this celebration, San Diego Floral is partially underwriting the dinner cost so that we can offer the 1973 “throwback” price of $15.00 per person.

A short after-dinner program will feature special guest Dr. Elizabeth Babcock, president and CEO of Forever Balboa Park, and will include the installation of SDFA officers for 2023–2024.
